Tasting Notes
The 2013 Flaherty is mostly Syrah with 19% Cabernet, 7% Malbec, 6% Tempranillo and 4% Petite Sirah from Aconcagua; it fermented in open top vats and matured in a mixture of French and American oak barrels for some 18 months. There are plenty of black olives and some creamy oak, ripe plums and some dry herbs. The palate is medium-bodied and quite classical, with fine tannins and subtle acidity. The barrels were 13% new French and American oak. Flaherty is also part of MOVI. 19,794 bottles were filled in December 2014. Ed Flaherty has left his work at Viña San Pedro Tarapacá to focus on his personal project, including tourism in Aconcagua. He’s part of MOVI. Importer(s): Elixir Wine Group, SW Industrial Way, Suite 102, Bend, OR 97702, (541) 388-5330.
